I was stuck in this issue and I think I should share the knowledge out, just in case any of you face similar problems.

This issue happen because the Inventory cube is not compressed, and you’re building an aggregate over it, rollup takes long time, query runtime is extremely slow. You tell your user to restrict more selections when running the report, especially posting date/key dates try to put shorter duration. But the report is still so slow. Why? Because U do not have compression LOH.

What happens when you compress your data in Cube is that fact table lines will be transferred from F to E table. What significant outcome will you get by moving the data across another table? The answer is PERFORMANCE. Just follow the best practice :-

A maximum number of 20 – 30 partitions per f table are recommended (that figure comes from a “one load a day and 30 days a month” scenario).

Partitions on the E fact table may be more numerous because in queries there usually will be time restrictions that reduce the number of partition accesses (partition pruning) because the partitions on the E facttable are by some time criterion (OCALMONTH or 0FISCPER).

On the F table, every partition must be accessed for every query because there is no effective restriction on the p-dimension partitioning key on the F facttable, and due to load performance the Indexes on the F table are all local indexes. This will cause unacceptable query response times if there are too many partitions.

What is wrong with the current architecture is… there is no compression! we overcome slow query runtime by implementing aggregates, aggregates and aggregates. We have even aggregates with mean value 2 with Valuation —–|

So the best approach is to use simple technique like compression. Aggregation gives even more problem. I later found out why the previous consultants from 1 of the Big 4 did not use Compression is because “the value went wrong after compression” hence they avoided compression until now. I wonder where these Big 4 get their SAP CONsultants from,

I was having lunchbreak at Weserpark Shopping Mall with my colleagues, it was so crowded due to some Computer Fair going on, but we managed to get a seat at Fun & Snacks.

So the story is, me & my colleagues sat down and order our food, then this pair of mother and her son (around 20s) came back from computer fair and sat next to us.

The mother went to toilet while the son switched on his laptop and was working on it. Then the mother came back and ordered her food with the waitress while the son went to the toilet. While his son went away, the mother just turn the laptop around and used it for a while. Then the son came back and and suddenly scolded the mother, we were dumbfounded @_@, how come just suddenly scold her?? whatever the case is, we heard the son used the ‘F’ word on his own mother, even his own drink spilled on his laptop, so he scold his mother even more.

He yelled and ask why the hell his mom insist on following him to computer fair in the first place, embarrassed him in front of his friends, bla bla bla. Then he just took the laptop off from the table, just like tat. Leaving the mother alone on the table and his leftover stuffs from computer fair. I really pity the mother, like everyone was staring at her like that. the son really no use punya.

I was watching Germany vs Australia match the night before, the game was a Great 4 – 0. Usually when matches like these you can hear the audience cheers, whistles, shouts, claps, etc. especially when there’s a Free Kick, a Foul, a GOAL, or a failed Goal.

But then in the Ger vs Aus match, I couldn’t hear any of those but only the sound ‘Bzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz’

No It’s not a Bee.

I hear it whenever there’s a Goal, a Foul, a Free Kick, an Offside or even when Nothing happens at all, there’s the ‘Bbbbbzzzzzzzzzz’ noise… so annoying. It just sound all the time throughout the entire freaking game even Half time !

It’s called the Vuvuzela

Yes, this is the noise you hear throughout the football match in WorldCup 2010. Why WorldCup 2010 ? Because the game is hosted in South Africa !

The Boogieblast – “Vuvuzela” is a plastic musical instrument which has now become infamous around the world.
It is used mostly at all sporting events or just for a good time.

The Boogieblast, also known as a soccer horn is used by local soccer supporters to try boost their teams performance.

The vuvuzela has a high pitched blasting sound, much like a big air-horn on trucks.

There are now a couple different types, but the Boogieblast is truly the first and original Vuvuzela to be proudly blown by our supporters.

The vuvuzela was introduced to South Africa as a toy for kids to blow, and hardly got off the ground. Selling the vuvuzela proved almost impossible, until the full potential was realized by the local soccer supporters.

The first prototype was from America and changed somewhat for more comfortable blowing and effectiveness. We have researched the history of the Vuvuzela, and follows a trail back to a women’s Chinese basketball team, AMAZING…

The word, VUVUZELA, was first used by a few soccer supporters. There are many claims to what the word really means, but more generally it means to pump up ones performance in a truly South African manner.

Many have tried to lay claim to the vuvuzela and Trademark, of this word, but let the truth be known, it belongs to the supporters.

So annoying u know or not ! Apparently the football players also complain because the noise interrupts their communication within the team on the field, and the commentators are not heard at all. All you can hear is ‘bzzzzzzzzzz or vuuuuuuuuuuu’

It can even make you go crazy and deaf you know ! Stupid football audience.. they should just Shut Up and watch the Match.

I am now Anti-Vuvuzela !

Annual dinner just over, the theme was Aloha.

It was fun, because I get to eat free yummy food =P

It wasn’t fun, because I didn’t get any lucky prizes. The grand prize is a LCD tv. =( I was aiming to win that, I bet everyone else do.

They were giving out free prizes like Nokia 5800, NetBook, Home Theatre, DigiCams, etc. and those lucky numbers starts with the number 0. My supposedly lucky number was 157 and no it’s not lucky. Everytime the person who draw the lots shout ‘ZERO’ and I know it’s definitely not me. Zero zero zero zero, it seems like there’s only 001-099 in that box… of course there’s a few that start with ‘ONE’ but that’s very rare.

I didn’t won anything. I can only see those lucky bastards running up the stage with their arrogant & happy face. Yet some of them who won the prize were even complaining that the stuff they won is useless to them and want to throw it away -_-” Talking about appreciate stuff….

We finally moved to BI 7 yesterday.

It was great.

Not for me.

I don’t have much confidence with what I do in live. I can’t speak as if I know everything. I can’t spend lavishly as if I am loaded with cash. But when it comes to BW3.5, I can proudly say “I know” because it’s my ‘periuk nasi’ (source of income).

But today, I realize my ‘periuk nasi’ has become ‘periuk bubur’. What used to be so easy is now so different, at least the icons are still recognizable. There are a lot of new concepts and old concepts has been obsolete thus missing from the workbench. I can’t find the frigging PSA

This is what I hate about the ‘prophecy’.

According to the ‘prophecy’ that I used to hear all the time before I graduate. “IT field very hard one, you need to constantly study when new technology come out. Unlike a doctor, once you learn something, the concept will last til the day you retire”. Which means, being in IT field you need to keep study-ing because new technologies are being invented everyday. If not, you will be left out and obsolete.

I was a BW ’specialist’ yesterday. But as of today, I’m a BI ‘noob’.

Here comes ‘test & trial & error” again… no training provided T.T

Life in IT is indeed like a fast lane, gotta catch up with the speed.

But I really don’t understand why out of the blue this thing happen…. izzit coz my computer is old already? But I not not enogh money to get a new Computer… this machine is already 4 years old loh…

Why must we “ask” for angpao from other people during CNY ?

It’s like beggar u know…. you must wish the person NICE NICE words then the person give u the ang pao. Yes I know this is a form of blessing from the elderly.. but then there are those uncle auntie that insist u say superbly nice things and wishing for them then only they willing to give u the ang pao…. damnit lah… ngor mm hei hon your mahney ok …

Why can’t they use kam (oranges) instead. When you wish ppl, u get a kam as blessing. Easier mah… this is so troublesome, for both kodomo and those stupid onnas…. they will have headache deciding how much to give… if give less, then ‘no face’ if their friends give their kids more angpao mahney. if gave more, they feel ‘rugi’ and ‘not worth’….

Who invented Ang Pao ah ? This is so stewpid man…

i hate chinese new year ! Can i just stay at home play red alert 3 and not go visitng other peoples house listening to other peeples show off, and listening to my mum showing off back ? Chinese memang useless lah…

I’ve been reading his blog since Bernard introduced to me this site 5 yrs ago. It was so funny that I’d read it everyday and every morning before going for industrial training. (that is why cwc had to wait for me every morning)

But somehow his posts are no longer funny and not interesting anymore, I started to forget this URL kennysia.com until I stumbled upon his new blog http://kennysai.blogspot.com

KennySai is KennySia’s alter ego of his online alter ego, in other words, his evil twin brother… err.. angel twin brother ( as I think the current KennySia is kinda evil now =P ). I find it more amusing reading KennySai !!! Trust me ! I’d read it everyday after back from work, it even recaps what KennySia wrote on his blog, with some “analysis” as well.

Their website is very…. not intuitive enough. There’s not competition details. I don’t even know how many rounds are there, how many pieces are required, most importantly the Subject itself is not clear. Classical guitar competition can be interpreted as : A competition for classical guitar, as long u use classical guitar, any choice of pieces are acceptable. Or, A competition for only classical pieces.

Should the promo website been well designed and informative. I would have known which piece to enter. Now I don’t know wanna choose Pink Panther or Pachelbel Canon, or, maybe add Canarios as well. I email-ed the person and no reply for 2 days already.

Today I went to KLCC for PC Fair. I left home at around 1130am. Stuck in federal highway but still okay, manage to reach Rennaisance Hotel at around 12pm.

My nightmare begins. 

The whole place is so freaking jam. That small tiny road in front Zouk/Rennaisance Hotel is so small and jam, and I stuck there for 10-20mins. The roads surrounding KLCC was so jam that I thought by using the un-usual road will be faster.

So I went to the klcc park carpark, even worst, there’s a mosque there, and all the cars simply park at roadside nia. Double lane road became single lane because the other lane became carpark already.

Then those peoples walk on the JALAN RAYA as if its a walkway of a taman like that, ignoring the cars and lorries trailing behind them threatening wanna knock them. I stuck on the road for 2 hours, and all the carparks occupied by those people who wanna visit the mosque (friday prayer) and KLCC carpark entrance all blocked with a ‘FULL’ signage.

In order to reach the other carpark entrance/tunnel, I had to crawl all the way there. I felt like just simply park the car on road side only, I wont get saman anyway, people will think I am also going for friday prayer. There are policeman there but no action taken on these traffic offenders.

This reminds me of MMU Cyberjaya campus, it’ll be damn jam on Friday noon. Normally if we simply park, sure kena saman. But Friday noon got 3 hours grace period woh.. so good. 

I didn’t manage to go to the PC fair. Stuck on road for so long, tulan and went back home straight.
